Research
Research activities at the Chair are focused on Nutrition and Microbiome in the initiation, prevention and therapy of chronic disorders emphasizing on the basic understanding of chronic disorders in the gut including inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) and colorectal cancer (CRC).
Nutrition and the gut microbial ecosystem (Microbiome) are key environmental factors in the etiology of chronic disorders.
The scientific program includes the following topics:
- Mechanisms of Microbe-Host-Interaction in inflammation and tumorigenesis
- Unfolded protein response (UPR) in the regulation of organ functions
- Characterization of dysbiosis in gnotobiotic mouse models
- Impact of nutrition on the intestinal microbiome
