PostDoc Positions in Clinical Proteomics

To expand our substantial activities in the area of CLINICAL PROTEOMICS; the Chair of Proteomics and the Institute of Pathology of the Technical University of Munich invite applications for the following research positions:

PostDoc - Molecular Oncology

and

PostDoc – Molecular Pathology

Job description: Both positions position are intended to further strengthen collaborations between the TUM School of Life Sciences and the TUM University hospital. Successful candidates will become key members of a strong interdisciplinary team of scientists, clinicians and technical staff focused on the development and application of proteomic and phosphoproteomic approaches to the identification of complex, tumor signaling activitybased biomarkers for patient stratification and to aid therapeutic decision making in molecular tumor boards. A PhD degree in a life science discipline is required for both positions.

For the molecular oncology position, we are looking for a scientist with a strong and demonstrated intellectual background and extensive experimental skills in cellular signaling research. Prior experience with proteomic, transcriptomic or genomic technologies, data handling and their interpretation are a plus. Full command of the German language is required for efficient communication in molecular tumor boards.

For the molecular pathology position, we are looking for a scientist with a strong and demonstrated intellectual background and extensive experimental skills in state-of-the-art technologies for mass spectrometry-based proteomics, ideally applied to human tissues. A strong interest in molecular pathology is a requirement and prior experience with relevant technologies are a plus.

Both positions require highly self-motivated and broadly interested individuals with a strong sense of responsibility. Flexibility and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects are essential. Good inter-cultural and interpersonal communication skills as well as presenting complex data to scientists and clinicians in English are also important.

Our offer: You will join an interdisciplinary team of biochemists, biotechnologists, cell biologists, bioinformaticians, chemists and clinicians that uses the latest proteomic approaches and equipment to help fighting cancer. The Technical University is one of the best academic institutions in Germany and offers a stimulating work environment and excellent future perspectives. The positions are initially available for three years and the salary follows the TVL/E13 scale.

Application: Applications should include a motivational statement (max. one page), a curriculum vitae summarizing qualifications and experience, copies of degrees/university transcripts, names and the email addresses of at least one referee.
